The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin is a non-profit philanthropic organization committed to improving the quality of life in Portage and Waushara counties. The Community Foundation serves donors, community organizations, and the community at large. We work with donors to fulfill their philanthropic goals including administering scholarships, directing grants, and building endowments for their favorite organizations and causes. Our community grants program supports efforts aimed at Arts and Culture, Education, Wellness, the Environment, and Helping People. As a regional leader, the Community Foundation partners to educate the community and find solutions for identified community needs and opportunities.
- Status: Non-Exempt, 37.5 hours/week
- Location: Stevens Point; with occasional travel around Portage and Waushara Counties
- Salary Range: $48,750-$58,500/annually
Position Summary: The Community Storyteller will capture, develop, and share engaging, meaningful, and strategic content across various platforms including social, digital, print, and emerging media. This position will bring narratives to life highlighting the Community Foundation’s mission, vision, and values through the stories of our grantees and partners.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and oversee brand strategy and marketing support across all areas of the organization
- Manage vendor relationships with external marketing partners
- Facilitate the creation and implementation of a communications plan that tells the story of the Community Foundation and generates visibility and appeal to key audiences in Portage and Waushara counties
- Visualize data to create graphical representation of information and data for a variety of projects
- Facilitate the development, creation, and promotion of Community Foundation communication tools including events, Annual Report, newsletters, brochures, videos, as well as material that can be used by Fund Representatives
- Manage all social media for the organization by creating, scheduling, and monitoring content to enhance brand visibility, increase engagement, and support communication goals
- Scope ideas, write and edit content, manage production, and ensure proper distribution of communication tools
- Grow effective working relationships with media and identify opportunities for media coverage, research and write press releases, pitch feature stories to local media
- Collaborate with Community Foundation staff and committees to develop timelines, written remarks, and special invitations and/or letters, printed programs, and presentations
- Provide event support by assisting with planning, set up, and execution of various events, which could include vendor relations, managing materials, promotion of event, and technical support
- Undertake other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Combination of experience and education, with proven ability to deliver outstanding creative and measurable results
- Ability to work independently, with a strong commitment to teamwork
- Ability to write compelling content for varied audiences and communication channels
- Excellent and concise written communication skills including strong writing, proofing, and editing skills
- Organized with superior attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent listening skills, follow-through and problem-solving ability
- Flexible, good judgment/ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficient with Microsoft products, and up to date on most current design software and programs as well as social media platforms
- Experience in curating social media for an organization, including authoring and visual design of content
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required

- Commitment to philanthropic endowment building and knowledge of, and passion for the people, businesses, and organizations that call Portage and Waushara Counties home
- Commitment to continuous learning
- Ability to update website and communicate with website designers
- Experience working with volunteer committees is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred/desired
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- The position is non-exempt
- Hours: 37.5 hrs./week, Monday – Friday between 8:30a – 4:00p and 8:30a-4:00p Monday-Thursday and 8:30a-noon on Fridays during the summer
- Attend/assist with after-hours functions throughout the year
