AmeriCorps in Action

Dec 29, 2023 | News & Events

In this special piece, we're excited to share thoughts from Torri Bradley, our AmeriCorps Volunteer. Torri has been a valuable member of the Community Foundation team for several months, contributing significantly to our efforts.

As an AmeriCorps member and a Master’s student in social work, I’ve always been passionate about cultivating positive change in our communities. Joining the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin felt like a perfect opportunity to deepen my understanding of our community’s needs and the innovative solutions that can address them.

AmeriCorps, often likened to the domestic Peace Corps, plays a crucial role in our nation. It’s a federal initiative committed to making communities safer, smarter, and healthier. Members commit to a year of service in which they help community organizations expand their capacity and reach their objectives.

My position is possible through the Community Corps of the Marshfield Clinic Health System. In my role, I focus on supporting the community grants and scholarship programs. I work on process improvements that may help the Foundation strengthen its impact and bring about meaningful change. On a personal note, I am keen on exploring the intersection of wellness and philanthropy, insights that I believe will be invaluable in my future role as a social worker.

My tenure at CFCWI has been enriched by the relationships I’ve built. From interacting with our dedicated staff, committee members, and board of directors, to engaging with grant and scholarship recipients, donors, and fund representatives – each interaction has been enlightening. Witnessing how these diverse elements interweave to form the strong fabric of our Foundation is truly inspiring. It’s a reminder of the immense potential that lies in our collective efforts for the growth and betterment of our community.
