The Major Project cycle supports the growth and development of a community project that makes a significant impact in Portage and/or Waushara Counties.

Timeline

Applications Open: May 15

Each year, the Community foundation gives up to $50,000 to support one substantial project in our region. These Major Projects offer a chance to make a difference in the lives of people who call Portage  and Waushara Counties home. They bring different parts of our community together to work on a shared goal. This grant cycle is open to programs and projects in Portage and Waushara counties that align with our values and five mission areas. 

Requirements

  • Applications submitted must be between $25,000 and $50,000.
  • The awarded funds must be less than 50% of the total project budget.
  • Organizations may only submit one Major Project application each year.

Eligible Organizations

  • Nonprofit 501c3 agencies that are state and federal tax exempt and in good standing with the IRS
  • The Foundation will consider applications from public, charter, parochial schools, or government entities.
  • Established community groups wishing to complete a community program or project for the benefit of the general public of Portage or Waushara counties

Eligible Projects

  • Unique community programs or projects for the benefit of Portage or Waushara counties
  • Capital Campaigns

Ineligible Projects

  • Operating expenses*
  • Projects in which CFCWI funds will provide more than 50% of total project budget
  • Endowment Funds
  • Individuals
  • Lobbying/political
  • Debt retirement
  • Requests for emergency funding or other financial shortfalls
  • General solicitation requests
