Living Trees Memorial Fund and Celebration Bench Program

Jul 7, 2022 | Celebrating Philanthropy

The Living Tree Memorial fund provides the opportunity to community members to honor loved ones in a unique way. In partnership with the Community Foundation, the Stevens Point Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department has planted 275 trees since 1988. The Fund was started for the beautification of the parks on the Riverfront and the Green Circle Trail, and has since expanded into any park in the City of Stevens Point. Over the years it has proven to be very meaningful to those who have participated in memorializing loved ones past and present. Donors get the opportunity to choose which type a tree they would like for their memorial and the location with an included memorial plaque. Trees have been planted in parks across Stevens Point, including Iverson Park, Bukolt Park, Pfiffner Park and others. Recently in 2020 there was new addition to the Living Trees Memorial, the Celebration Bench program. Similar to the trees, donors can fund the purchase of a bench in any City Park and include a custom memorial plaque.
