Helping People Mission Fund

Apr 7, 2022 | Celebrating Philanthropy

The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin created individual endowment funds to specifically support each of their mission areas. The Foundation’s five Mission Areas are:

  • Arts & Culture
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Helping People
  • Wellness

We will highlight each of our Mission Funds. The Foundation has seven Mission Funds:

  • Arts & Culture Mission Fund
  • Environment Mission Fund
  • Education Mission Fund
  • Helping People Mission Fund
  • Wellness Mission Fund
  • Community Mission Fund
  • Hartford Waushara County Mission Fund

This week we highlight the Helping People Mission Fund which was the first Mission Fund started at the Foundation in 1988. This fund was originally named Fund One when an anonymous donor left a $100,000 gift to the Foundation. The donor directed that the money be used for an endowment and the net income be distributed on at least an annual basis to individuals or organizations which help “the needy, hungry and underprivileged.” This gift was the first large amount of money to be endowed at the Foundation.

The purpose of Fund One was to help the needy, hungry and underprivileged in Portage County. In 2010, the name was changed to the Helping People Mission Fund and the purpose of the fund remains the same.

Consider a gift to the Helping People Mission Fund. Your gift will support funding for programs that help the needy, hungry and underprivileged in Portage County through our Community Grants for generations to come.
