It all began when Sue Schulfer and Moe Lewandowski were colleagues. Sue invited Moe to a Women’s Fund of Portage County event, an invitation that would leave a lasting positive impression.
“I found myself sharing what I learned with just anyone that would listen, because I thought it was so impactful what I learned and what was shared,” said Moe.
The experience stayed with her. Then, sometime later, Moe received a phone call from Sue that would mark another meaningful turning point. Sue asked if she’d be open to a conversation with Jenny Riggenbach about an opportunity to join the board of the Community Foundation.
“I remember so much about that day just because it was so impactful and Sue thought I would be a good fit and addition,” Moe recalled.
From her very first conversation with Jenny, Moe felt a deep alignment with the mission and work of the Foundation. She went on to serve on both the Scholarship Committee and the Major Grants Committee, playing a hands-on role in supporting impactful community initiatives. Currently, she is the President-Elect for the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin.
“Throughout it all, I’ve realized it is all about relationships. It led me to ask, ‘how do we create relationships within our community?’” said Moe.
She connected her experience on the board and her broader community involvement with a shared purpose: building meaningful relationships that strengthen the reach and impact of the Community Foundation.
Thank you, Moe, for your heartfelt story and for your invaluable contributions to the mission and work of the Community Foundation.
