Mid-State Technical College Nonprofit Leadership Institute

The Community Foundation and United Way of Portage County are proud to support Mid-State Technical College’s masterclass in nonprofit leadership. The Nonprofit Leadership Institute is a masterclass in nonprofit leadership. This series of seminars, led by subject-matter experts, is for members of all levels of nonprofit organizations. Designed for staff, executives, board members of nonprofits, and community members interested in board service, this course will provide the foundations of managing and operating effective nonprofits. Topics will include organizational leadership, financial management, fundraising, and community engagement. Each class session will be enhanced with peer-facilitated discussion groups and will be an excellent networking and collaboration opportunity.

You will:
• Learn to connect mission, vision, values, strategy, and goals.
• Understand the principles and concepts of nonprofit leadership, governance, and planning.
• Apply sound fiscal and financial decision-making.
• Cultivate professional relationships to build community, board, and volunteer resources.
• Explore ways to use storytelling and communication strategies to grow your influence.
• Examine various fundraising and fund development strategies commonly used in the nonprofit sector.
• Consider the value of using an equity lens to lead organizations today.

 

Nonprofit Leadership and Educational Fund

Scholarships to help pay for this class are available, thanks to sponsorships from the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin and United Way of Portage County. If you live or serve in Portage or Waushara Counties, you may qualify.

This fund was created to ensure high quality and financially accessible leadership and educational experiences are available for Portage or Waushara County nonprofit organizations and residents seeking to serve on a Portage or Waushara County nonprofit organization’s board of directors.

Scholarship Eligibility

To qualify, you must fit one of the following:

  • Employed by a nonprofit organization serving Portage or Waushara County, Wisconsin
  • A current or future board member of a nonprofit organization serving Portage or Waushara County, Wisconsin.
  • A resident of Portage or Waushara County, Wisconsin, who is interested in serving on a Portage or Waushara County nonprofit organization’s board of directors.
