Spotlight on People: Neha Malik, Board Member

Apr 8, 2025 | News & Events

Years ago, Neha Malik was the administrative assistant who greeted guests at the Community Foundation. Today, she sits on the board and brings the same warmth, energy, and generous spirit that made her a standout staff member back then.

Her path from administrative assistant to board member reflects how deeply she cares about the community. At nearly every event, you’ll find her chatting with attendees, pitching in wherever needed, and showing us why connection matters.

When asked about her contributions as a board member, she talks about equity, learning, and purpose.

“I take my role seriously,” she shared in a recent board presentation. “I want to make informed and unbiased decisions. That means understanding what our community needs, opportunities, and the best way for us to engage.”

Neha was a strategic contributor to developing the Community Foundation’s shared values of compassion, connection, and commitment. As she puts it,

Communities grow stronger when we know each other. When we meet people, gather information, and figure out how we can help, that’s what stewardship means to me.

Commitment is the throughline that ties her story together. Whether she’s making guests feel comfortable or shaping strategy, she does it thoughtfully. And she shows with her actions what it looks like to stay guided in purpose, even as roles shift.

“From 2016 to now, the Community Foundation has been part of my life,” she says with a smile. “It’s personal. It’s meaningful. And I’m proud to be part of it.”

Her story demonstrates that leadership isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it looks like showing up, asking questions, and staying curious. Sometimes, it’s about walking alongside others, not ahead of them.

And sometimes, it starts at the front desk.
