The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin is proud to share news of a remarkable $1 million gift from the Copernicus Cultural Foundation, a gift that will expand and sustain music opportunities across Portage County for generations to come.
This endowed fund celebrates the enduring legacy of Edmund and Kathryn Bukolt, who believed deeply in the ability of music to uplift, connect, and inspire. Their passion lives on through this investment, which stands as one of the largest arts-related gifts in the Community Foundation’s history.
The Copernicus Foundation Music Grant Program, established through this gift, will begin accepting letters of intent in Spring 2026. Designed to encourage the expansion of opportunities in the musical arts, the program will support projects that:
- Provide a quality music activity or experience
- Elevate musical opportunities to students of all ages through instrument availability & upkeep and music-related technology
- Expose youth to music, especially to those who may not otherwise experience it
- Support local musicians
- Fill a specific music need
Grants of up to $10,000 will be available to projects expanding access, particularly for youth, and across Portage County.
As the Community Foundation prepares to launch the program, we’re happy to celebrate this extraordinary gift and the people behind it. Learn more at cfcwi.org/copernicus-foundation-music-grants.
