The fund’s goal is to support river protection, education, or conservation projects run by area organizations, school districts, and others dedicated to that purpose. Water quality, shoreline stability, and ecological integrity are key goals. The fund honors the late George Rogers, a renowned journalist and noted river conservationist. Whether as a journalist or conservationist, throughout his life’s journey Rogers paid special attention to the regions rivers overall health, including the Wisconsin, Plover, and Tomorrow Rivers.
This scholarship is open to a SPASH senior member of the Men’s Varsity Baseball Team who has been accepted to a college, university or technical college.
To support community development and human development needs in Portage County, or choose to be informed of grant requests received by the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin.
Offer a number of scholarships to Portage, Waushara and Waupaca County residents who are pursuing a post-secondary degree in building/construction trades, health care, or finance/banking.
To educate the general public on the importance and value of providing balance and harmony between the natural environment and the recreational uses of the land by the general populace; to facilitate such education through the development and maintenance of a nature-biking trail system through the Stevens Point/Plover/Hull/Whiting communities, such trail known as the “Green Circle”.
Guns N’ Hoses is a community committee that includes local law enforcement, fire fighters, and veterans.
The purpose of the fund is to support and honor Portage County veterans through events, grants to support veterans’ programs, and the construction and maintenance of a memorial that honors Portage County veterans.

The purpose of this fund is to support the mission and ongoing needs of the Humane Society of Portage County, Inc.
Persons eligible for this scholarship include residents of Portage County who are currently enrolled in graduate level, health-related studies at an accredited school. Undergraduate seniors accepted to an accredited graduate school for health-related studies may also apply. Currently practicing healthcare professionals who are pursuing education for a specialized field are also encouraged to apply.
