Honoring a Visionary in Waushara County

The Hartford Waushara County Mission Fund

In 2007, Waushara County received a generous bequest from the late Geraldine E. Hartford, who directed her estate to be used for educational, charitable and environmental endeavors to benefit the residents of Waushara County. Each year, a group of committed Waushara County volunteers work with the Community Foundation to issue grants from Geraldine Hartford’s Donor Advised Fund.

Over the past ten years, the Hartford Fund has granted over $100,000 to projects in Waushara County and is pivotal to fulfilling our mission to improve the quality of life in Waushara County. After careful review of Geraldine Hartford’s intent for her legacy gift and the goals of the Hartford Fund, CFCWI decided to recognize the Hartford Fund as a Mission Fund for Waushara County.

The Hartford Waushara County Mission Fund will continue supporting programs in Waushara County. However, the change to a Mission Fund encourages additional donors to invest in the fund, knowing their gift will grow the fund, the grants and the everlasting impact for good for the residents on Waushara County.

The Community Foundation is grateful to Geraldine Hartford’s generosity and the commitment she had to support her community and we honor her legacy with the Hartford Waushara County Mission Fund.
