How the Mission Funds Started

Mar 9, 2022 | Celebrating Philanthropy

In 2004, the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin created individual endowment funds to specifically support its mission of helping people, enhancing education, enriching arts and culture, contributing to wellness and improving the environment. These endowment funds were simply called Mission Funds, as they are still referred to today.

In creating the Mission Funds, the Foundation’s hope was to develop relationships with standing committees or organizations to actively market, develop, and fundraise for each fund. Mission Funds allow donors to financially support the Foundation’s Mission Areas. The Foundation’s Mission Area’s include:

  • Arts & Culture
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Helping People
  • Wellness

Additionally, the Foundation offers two competitive grant cycles annually to support programs and projects in Portage and Waushara counties that align with our values and five Mission Areas.

We will be sharing a story about each Mission Fund over the coming weeks. Until then, you can learn more about them here: cfcwi.org/mission-funds.
