Fund Spotlight: Friends of Emerson Park

Oct 3, 2022 | Celebrating Philanthropy

The Friends of Emerson Park Fund was established here at the Foundation in 2018 to begin raising funds to improve the neighborhood park that rests on the former grounds of Emerson School. The “Friends” of Emerson Park are parents, grandparents, educators, engineers, public service professionals, and more who believe “Open spaces and public parks bring VALUE and VITALITY to neighborhoods,” and that “Vibrant city parks are VITAL to the health, safety, and prosperity of a community.”

Exciting work is underway at Emerson Park here in Stevens Point! Crews have officially broke ground at the park site beginning their first phase of renovation – a new playground. Friends of Emerson Park have an inspiring vision for the future of the space, including a modern new playground for all ages, multipurpose athletic areas and wide-open spaces. If all goes to plan and weather cooperates, the park should have its new playground in mid-November of this year. After the playground, the next priority will be a new basketball court to replace the current run-down one. The project has only been possible because of generous donations from our community, if you would like to support the Emerson Park Revitalization Project, make a gift here.
